Volunteers were called out to work alongside the City's contractor Stewardship Partners and program partner Pierce Conservation District to install 7 new rain gardens on the properties of 6 lucky Puyallup residents. For this event, 41 volunteers turned out to help plant the gardens as well as install storm drain catch basin markers throughout the neighborhood. Lynn Hamilton’s 5th grade class even turned out students and parents helpers to join in the planting efforts. It was a great installation, with perfect weather. Now the residents are left with beautiful gardens in their front yards, as well as having the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping to save the streams and river from stormwater runoff pollution.
